Klapton Insurance Zambia
Klapton Insurance Zambia Limited (KIZ), a Zambian insurance company provides insurance products in Zambia, the region and beyond. KIZ’s main business objective is to serve the end consumer with superior products and insurance service and to promote economic growth by providing insurance through appropriate experience, knowledge and technology.
Our business core activity lines are focused on SME business, Retail and Surety business. The business model hinges on brokers and direct underwriting to drive the business inflow of activities. KIZ will capitalise and build upon its existing sureties expertise to expand its business footprint both geographically and in the types of products that will be offered to the public.

KIZ has developed a digital platform to enable online purchase of personal and SME insurance policies. Customers are looking for self-service from their financial service providers, and prefer companies that are easy to do business with.
KIZ aims to satisfy these needs in the insurance market by utilising technology based products and processes.

The Board
Dr Leonard Kalinde
Dr Leonard Nkole Kalinde is currently a Partner (Banking and Finance and Capital Markets) at Messrs Equitas Legal Practitioners. Among his many academic and professional qualifications holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with Merit from the University of Zambia, a Master’s Degree in International Business Law (LLM) from the Washington College of Law of the American University and a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in International Economic Law from the University of Kent. He is also an Advocate of the High Court for Zambia, a gazetted Public Prosecutor, a Chartered Arbitrator and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (CAMS) with the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist.

A holder of a Master of Laws Degree ( LLM) in International Commercial Law from the Ivy League’ s Cornell University School of Law, New York and a Bachelor of Laws Degree ( LLB) from the University of Zambia (UNZA). He is an Advocate of the High Court of Judicature for Zambia with audience before all the superior Courts of Zambia

A Chartered Insurer and seasoned professional with over 20 years’ insurance and risk management experience. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Zambia, holds postgraduate diplomas from the CII (UK) and has undergone executive education courses at the University of Cape Town (GSB).

Cynthia Simeza
Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director
A Chartered Insurer and seasoned professional with over 20 years’ insurance and risk management experience. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Zambia, holds postgraduate diplomas from the CII (UK) and has undergone executive education courses at the University of Cape Town (GSB).
She is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Zambia, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK) and a member of the Institute of Directors Zambia.
Makungu Mulando
Chief Financial Officer
Makungu is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of ACCA (UK), IODZ and ZICA. He is a holder of Master’s in Business Administration from MsM & ESAMI, ACCA(UK), and AAT Diploma (UK) and Stock and Investments Broking. He brings expertise in Financial and Management accounting, Anti-Money Laundering, Pension Fund Management, Asset-liability Matching and Corporate and Board governance.
Alex Ng'andu
Chief Underwriter
Alex Is a holder of a bachelors degree from the University of Zambia and Cert CII, he is seasoned under writer with over 10 years work experience which spans across Zambia. He has a solid background underwriting various complex risks and offers a whole encompassing view on underwriting as his work experience covers significant exposure to processing complex claims including dispute resolution and relationship management.
Francis Mulenga
Finance Manager
Francis is a chartered accountant with Msc. Professional Accountancy (UK) from University of London, a fellow of ACCA and ZICA, with a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the Copperbelt University.
He is a graduate of Business Management and Leadership from Gordon Institute of Business Science at University of Pretoria, with over 20 of years’ experience in professional accounting and Finance spanning in insurance, financial services, oil and gas, health services and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG).
Mutinta Maswabi Chiseyeng’i
Senior Underwriting Manager
Mutinta is a Chartered Insurer and an accomplished insurance professional with over 13 years’ experience, she began her insurance career as a sales executive and progressed to senior management over the years.
Mutinta has vast experience and knowledge in insurance underwriting, reinsurance, claims management, customer relationship management and risk management. Mutinta is a holder of the Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) with the Chartered Insurance Institute – UK and a member of the Insurance Institute of Zambia.
